As excitement builds for upcoming FIFA 2026 matches, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is reminding fans to protect themselves from ticket scams by purchasing tickets only through verified and authorized ticketing platforms.

Major sporting events often attract scammers who attempt to sell counterfeit, duplicated, or non-existent tickets through social media, online marketplaces, and unofficial websites.  Fans who purchase tickets from unverified sources risk losing money and being denied entry to the matches.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office encourages residents and visitors to take the following precautions:

• Purchase tickets only through FIFA’s official ticketing platform.
• Be cautious of tickets advertised at prices that seem too good to be true.
• Avoid conducting transactions through wire transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other non-traditional payment methods.
• Verify the legitimacy of websites before entering payment information.
• Be wary of sellers who pressure you to act quickly or refuse to provide proof of purchase.
• Use secure payment methods that offer fraud protection whenever possible.

Common warning signs of ticket fraud include:

• Requests for payment through peer-to-peer payment apps with no buyer protection.
• Sellers who cannot provide ticket details or proof of ownership.
• Tickets being sold multiple times to different buyers.
• Social media accounts with limited history or recently created profiles.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office remains committed to helping residents and visitors enjoy a safe and secure FIFA experience and encourages everyone to remain vigilant when purchasing event tickets.
