The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Airport Operations Bureau maintains a constant state of readiness in response to the needs of passengers as they travel through the Miami International Airport (MIA). The Airport District maintains a dedicated staff of sworn law enforcement and non-sworn personnel, who are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to meet the needs of the MIA community and the surrounding areas.
Organization
The Airport Operations Bureau is comprised of the Administrative Unit, General Investigations Unit (including Crime Analysis Unit, Special Projects, and Motorcycle Unit), uniform patrol, and the Special Operations Section (Canine officers and Incident Containment Team).

Administrative Unit
Responsible for administrative and logistical support of the law enforcement activities of the Airport District. Prepares statistical reports, administrative reports, completes public records requests, training scheduling, acquisition of supplies, vehicular and facility maintenance, and payroll. Liaison between the MDSO and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department.
General Investigations Unit
The General Investigations Unit consists of the Crime Analysis Unit, Motorcycle Unit, Investigation Squad, and the Community Service Squad.
Crime Analysis Unit — Collects, collates, analyzes, and disseminates crime data and information to departmental elements and other concerned law enforcement agencies. Assists in the ability to monitor airport-related events and bulletins for possible threats, criminal activities, and investigations.
EDIC Teams — Secure the airport against improvised explosive devices being carried on persons. EDIC teams work in direct coordination with the ICT and are trained to patrol and locate moving explosives within crowded terminals.
Uniform Patrol
Uniform patrol personnel provide high visibility patrol of the MIA and surrounding areas by foot, vehicles, bicycles and golf carts 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
