Occupant with Autism Program — Special Needs, May Not Respond to Verbal Commands

To enhance emergency responses, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office has launched the Occupant with Autism Program. This initiative provides free decals to community members to be placed on homes. The visual indicator aids deputies in applying specialized autism training during incidents involving individuals who may not readily respond to verbal commands.

About the Program

MDSO is providing decals free of charge to anyone in the community who would like to place them near the front door of their home, enabling sheriff deputies to utilize their autism training to assist individuals who may not respond or comply with verbal commands.

Participation is voluntary, and residents can register without displaying the decal so the address can be flagged in the dispatch system, ensuring arriving deputies are aware that a person with autism lives in the home.

How to Register

Complete the online registration form to enroll. Once registered, visit your local sheriff's district station with your email confirmation to receive your decal.
