About the Program
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Education Program was established in September 1988, with the implementation of the school program known as Willy Whistle. Due to the success of the program, the Pedestrian Safety Education Program (PSEP) was established.
In 2017, the Education Program was re-named MDSO Community Education Unit (CEU). Today, the CEU serves as an educational component of the agency's community outreach efforts, providing a comprehensive approach to safety education, prevention, and community engagement throughout Miami-Dade County. The CEU provides educational presentations and resources for community members of all ages from pre-kindergarten students to senior citizens. Through engaging presentations, demonstrations, interactive activities, and specialized programs, the CEU works to promote awareness, encourage positive decision-making, and help create safer communities. Currently, the CEU provides the following safety and prevention topics:
- Buckle Up with Buckle Bear Car Seat Safety

- Bicycle Safety
- Eight Keys to a Better Me (Character Development)
