The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Community Affairs Bureau (CAB) strives to promote cooperation, education, and enhance communication between MDSO and the citizens of Miami-Dade County. The goal of the CAB is to improve overall communication through education, awareness, and involvement in programs that positively impact the community.
Sections & Units
The CAB achieves its goal through three main sections and units:
Community and Youth Outreach Section (CYOS) — Runs various community-based programs including D.A.R.E., PAL, and initiatives to combat youth gun violence.
Youth Outreach Unit (YOU) — Emphasizes positive life choices, education, and involvement in sports through mentoring and community events.
School Crossing Guard Program (SCGP) — Ensures safe crossings for students across the county.
Crime Stoppers
The Bureau also monitors the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers line. Crime Stoppers is a community action program that encourages citizens to become involved in the fight against crime, while remaining completely anonymous, with the possibility of receiving a cash reward.
