The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is investigating a shooting involving a deputy from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO).

According to investigators, the MDSO Homicide Street Violence Task Force (HSVTF) and the Special Response Team (SRT) were serving a firearms-related search warrant at the residence.  SRT identified themselves and announced multiple times that they were serving a search warrant at the residence.  After making entry, a subject exited the bedroom with a firearm in his hand.  An SRT deputy discharged his service weapon, striking the subject.  An SRT Medic assessed the subject, and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) arrived and determined he was deceased.  A second subject, also named in the search warrant, was taken into custody, and other individuals that were inside the residence were safely removed.  Detectives recovered the subject's firearm.
