Driver Flees Traffic Stop, Causing Fatal Collision
On Wednesday September 2, 2026, at approximately 7:42 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Robbery Intervention Detail (RID) deputies conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, deputies confirmed the driver had an outstanding warrant. The driver then fled the traffic stop.
As additional RID units responded to the area the driver entered a dead-end street. After turning around, the driver ran a stop sign, colliding with a civilian vehicle causing it to flip. The impact caused the vehicles to subsequently collide with an unmarked MDSO vehicle occupied by an RID deputy who was in the area searching for the subject.
The driver of the civilian vehicle was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition, where they were later pronounced deceased. The subject was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The deputy was treated on scene by MDFR. Traffic Homicide responded and took over the investigation.
The investigation continues.

The victim has not been identified, and next of kin notification has not been completed.

The victim has been identified as Stefan Germaine Davis 55-years-old, a Bahamian national.
