The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) successfully secured all seven FIFA World Cup 2026 matches held at Miami Stadium. Through months of planning, proactive enforcement, intelligence sharing, and close coordination with our local, state, and federal partners, MDSO helped ensure a safe and secure environment for hundreds of thousands of fans, athletes, event staff, and visitors from around the world.
Throughout the seven matches, approximately 424,187 fans attended the tournament. MDSO made a total of 36 arrests, primarily involving individuals attempting to gain access using fraudulent credentials, recorded 93 stadium ejections, and issued 777 citations. Deputies also seized 2,086 counterfeit merchandise items, and working alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) seized 37 unauthorized unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operating in restricted airspace. These incidents were isolated in nature and were addressed promptly and effectively by law enforcement personnel.
The successful execution of this operation reflects the professionalism, preparation, and dedication of the men and women of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. Their commitment throughout the tournament helped ensure the World Cup was not only a memorable event for fans from around the world, but also one conducted safely and securely from start to finish.
