The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) Robbery Bureau has arrested an individual in connection to a string of armed robberies/carjackings.

According to investigators, on June 18th at approximately 8:43 PM, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) responded to an armed carjacking in the area of SW 67 Avenue and SW 40 Street.  Upon arrival, they discovered the victim was beaten and stabbed and his vehicle was stolen by an unknown male subject. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded and transported him to an area hospital in critical condition.

Sometime later, MDSO deputies responded to additional armed robberies and/or carjackings. One was in the area of SW 137 Avenue and SW 56 Street, another at a gas station located at SW 157 Avenue and SW 88 Street, and a third in the area of SW 152 Avenue and SW 72 Street. The victims in these incidents were transported by MDFR in stable condition to an area hospital.

Additional deputies conducting an area search at SW 152 Avenue and SW 72 Street, located the most recently carjacked vehicle and the subject matching the description running away from it. After a foot pursuit, the subject was taken into custody and identified as 33-year-old Alejandro Martinez.

After interviewing the subject, detectives learned in addition to the armed robberies/carjackings, the individual was also involved in two additional incidents (Midwest and Hammocks Districts) where he beat the victims, causing them to be transported by MDFR to area hospitals (unknown conditions). He was arrested and charged accordingly. 

In addition, to the charges filed, the MDSO Special Victims Bureau (SVB) Domestic Violence Unit filed additional charges, stemming from a separate incident.
