Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Investigates Homicide and Arson

Miami-Dade (October 5, 2026) – The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office (MDSO) Homicide Bureau is conducting a death investigation related to a shooting and abduction that occurred in the City of North Miami.

According to investigators, on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at approximately 7:25 a.m., an MDSO captain discovered an unresponsive individual lying on the shoulder of the roadway in the area of SW 216 Street and SW 189 Avenue. Upon approaching, he determined the adult male had sustained gunshot wounds. Additional deputies and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) responded to the scene, where MDFR determined the victim was deceased.

Additionally, MDSO Arson investigators responded to the area of SW 248 Street and SW 157 Avenue regarding reports of a vehicle that had been set on fire. They determined the vehicle had been intentionally ignited.

Through investigative means, Homicide and Arson investigators learned that uniformed officers from the City of North Miami Police Department (NMPD) had responded at around midnight to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex located at 14040 Biscayne Blvd, where the victim was abducted. The decedent matched the description of the abducted victim, and the vehicle matched the one driven by the subjects.
