Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Responds to Fatal Cargo Plane Crash

MIAMI-DADE (September 06, 2026)– At approximately 1:58 p.m., Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Airport District deputies responded to a cargo plane that had overrun the runway and crashed just west of the airport. 

According to investigators, deputies and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) personnel were able to locate deceased victims as well as multiple individuals who were injured and transported to local hospitals.

MDSO is the lead agency handling the death investigation and is working alongside our local and federal partners as the overall response and investigation continue.

MDSO Homicide Bureau detectives remain actively engaged in the ongoing investigation at the scene. The process of confirming the identities of the deceased remains ongoing, as detectives continue their work to determine whether additional victims may have been involved.
