Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) deputies responded in emergency mode to the area of SW 157 Avenue and SW 140 Street in reference to a shooting.

According to investigators, at approximately 9:10 a.m., an FDLE agent was inside his vehicle when an individual standing in the street approached and began striking the vehicle’s window.

The agent exited the vehicle and the individual immediately engaged in a physical altercation. The individual threw the agent to the ground and got on top of him. During the altercation, the agent discharged his firearm striking the individual. 

A City of Miami Police officer who was in the area, along with responding MDSO deputies, provided lifesaving efforts to the individual. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the individual deceased on scene.

At the request of FDLE, the MDSO Homicide Bureau assumed the investigation.

The investigation continues.
